The second contract in the same building: a complete commercial kitchen with a hood line, walk-in coolers and freezers, an industrial oven and an ice machine. Every refrigerated circuit had to be recovered and documented before a wrench touched it.

What we walked into
Refrigeration is where kitchen demolition goes wrong. Three walk-in boxes and an ice machine meant six circuits across three refrigerant types, in an occupied building where venting anything was not an option and the documentation would be reviewed. The hood line had to come out cleanly to the duct collar so the ductwork above could be reused or capped by others.
The approach
How it went
- Recovered every circuit in-house under EPA 608 before demolition began, cylindered by type, weighed, and logged for the closeout record.
- Took the hoods down to the duct collar, cutting at the agreed termination points and leaving the collars ready for the next trade.
- Broke the walk-in panels down flat for the elevator; the oven and the ice machine went out in sections on skates.
- Kept the stainless wall paneling in place on the client's written direction, and documented that decision in the closeout.

Kitchen cleared in five working days with the refrigerant recovery record, the scope-verification sheet and the photo record delivered together. Two contracts in one building, one closeout standard.
