A middle-school boiler plant, the mechanical pit, and 21 classroom units set
Northern Front Range · occupied middle school · 2026
A full heating-plant replacement on a campus that stayed in use: the boiler plant and the mechanical pit out, classroom heating equipment out of 38 rooms, and then 21 new classroom ventilation units placed for the mechanical contractor through corridors and openings that were never meant for them.
The job
What we walked into
Two jobs at once. The demolition scope was a plant and a pit full of piping, pumps and tanks plus heating equipment in every classroom. The placement scope was 21 new ventilation units that, on paper, could not make the geometry of the corridors and openings with standard handling.
The approach
How it went
- Cleared the plant first: boilers sectioned, piping cut at the agreed points, pumps and tanks rigged out of the pit, the pit swept.
- Ran the classroom removals room by room around the school's schedule.
- For the unit placement, designed and built a fixed-angle tilt cradle for the corridor geometry, documented it in a sixteen-page supplemental packet and proof-load tested it in house to ASME B30.20. On site the district cleared a simpler method, laying each unit horizontal and standing it directly, and the cradle stayed on the truck. The plan was ready either way, and the simpler path was faster.
- Photographed every room before and after and turned each one over clean.
The result
Handed back
Plant, pit and 38 classrooms cleared and 21 units placed with zero damage, with three people, on time. The mechanical contractor's site engineer said it would have taken seven of his.
“You guys are the best I've ever seen. You did with three guys what would have taken me seven, in half the time, and finished on time without incident.”

What the client got
The closeout
Scope-of-work completion verification, a captioned photo record by work area, recovery documentation where refrigerant was involved, and a certification of completion signed by both managing members. Delivered with the final invoice.
