The job
What we walked into
A mechanical contractor lost its demo crew with the new boilers already ordered and a school in session. The room had two seven-section cast iron boilers, two expansion tanks, the flue, pump motors and the piping between them, and it had to be empty before the install could start.
The approach
How it went
- Verbal authorization, photos and a start time the same day, with the scope confirmed in writing.
- Crew of three with full floor protection and the haul route cleared before the first section came off.
- Sectioned both boilers, rigged the tanks and flue, pulled the motors, cut the piping at the agreed points, and hauled everything through the existing building paths.
- Broom-clean turnover, photographed before and after, and the room back to the school two days early.
